Let’s stop giving power to Trashy Reading…

The Royals are always being Trashed… Poor Things.

Happy New Year Everyone!… well, for some…

I was looking through my mother’s magazine collection (which she only really ever gets because of the crosswords), and I was astounded to see the crap written across the mainstream headlines of these magazines – particularly about the Royal Family!

Why do we read this stuff? Are our lives that boring that we find a sense of normality because they’re highly recognised and always in the tabloids?

Why can’t we just let them do what they have to do and stop blasting them across headlines of papers and magazines?

Now I know some would argue that this is the price we pay for being famous or celebrities, or even of high caliber people to society. But come on! We all still eat and shit the same!

I feel for this family because of their Duty of being the Royal family, however, do we have to care about what they do in their lives? I mean really I have to admit I couldn’t care less. In actual fact I feel sorry for the poor things. And further feel for anyone slammed in the media about the crap they write about anyone in the spotlight because of their well known status.

Although I’ve experienced this as a TV personality from our TV Show, and have to admit, if I could do it again I would do it so differently. I never expected to be well known where I’m having to consider my stance, image, portrayal of personality in the public eye. To be honest, I bloody hate it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the public’s fault for loving personality types. Because I know many people find validation in the personalities of those who star in the show, but why do we have to care?

I’ve found life has changed since being known and the fact these guys who get slammed on the front page and articles like the Royals are still normal people who have a heart, eat the same and shit the same as the rest of us. So why do we put the pressure of expectation upon them? Why!!??

For as long as I know that we give publications the ability to survive by buying and reading this stuff, we will continue to make unfounded judgements on “stuff” that we really know nothing about and quite frankly has nothing to do with our personal lives, our energy and what’s really important from within – focus on your own Whanau.

As for my mother, I think I’ll teach her how to play crosswords on her phone through a simple app!
