‘Personally, one of my ambitions, particularly in life is having the intention to ‘give-back’ to people through education and helping them to understand their potential – because everyone has potential that just needs to be unlocked’

Born and bred in Henderson, West Auckland and attended Pomaria Primary, Henderson Intermediate and later attended Waitakere College through to form 6.
At school Scottie’s interests were always in Social studies and the Arts – Music and Theatre often taking out lead roles and main characters within productions and undertaking Opera singing, choir and the Barbershop Quartet.
Scottie has always been passionate about people and working with those who are less fortunate. From there Scottie went on and became part of many different local committees, boards and associations all in the name of social, community and youth development.
In 2009, Scottie took a leap away from Healthcare and Social Services by becoming a Self-Employed Business Consultant specialising in Governance, Strategic Development and Business Development which took him to live and work in Australia before returning home.
In 2010, Scottie was successful in getting into Pre-Medical School with the intention to become a Paediatrician. However, left after the second year due to financial hardship. Although Scottie has undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications in Business Administration, Health Care, Mentoring and Life Coaching, Scottie has always believed that nothing beats a qualification than that of life moments and experiences.

Although life wasn’t always peachy and smooth, Scottie returned home to Aotearoa (New Zealand) joining his best friends, Francis and Kaiora as their Business Development Manager and Funeral Director of Waitakere Funeral Services which later became Tipene Funerals. As the General Manager managing all operations within the firm from client families, their loved ones and the quality assurance of services provided to families during their time of need – Scottie recalls that his experience in the industry taught him so much about appreciating the facets of life.
Scottie left Tipene Funerals in 2018 after the filming of Season II of the TVNZ and Netflix Award Winning TV Reality Series – The Casketeers. Scottie served as a Funeral Director for five years and recalls the experience of being on an International television show was definitely an amazing learning and moment in life that although was enjoyable, was also a huge change catapulting us all into international fame and stardom. Laughing, Scottie says: “This has been a crazy journey! If someone had said that I would end up a TV Star and known to millions around the world who I don’t even know, I would’ve told that person that they were talking s**t and to get a life…”.
Life after the Funeral Home led Scottie back to what he loves doing working within the community for charitable causes that serves a cause and purpose higher than himself, and working back in his Business Consultancy Firm – Perspective Solutions Limited. Scottie says that since leaving Tipene Funerals and going back to Business Consulting, he has received a large number of enquiries to advise, re-strategise and support corporations and businesses (funeral homes included) from within the Funeral Industry. Previously, many of Scottie’s clients came from Non-Government Organisations, Charitable Organisations, Corporate Agencies and generally, SME’s (small to medium enterprises).
